This is most definitely a variation of the VGC VR-N76, which is what I have. I am curious about variations in firmware though, and the number of channels per channel bank. I dont believe the VGC has the weather channels pre programmed in.

Really is a nice little radio! Had mine for a couple of days now. Programs up and generally functions just like it's gmrs buddy. I presume the uv and gmrs will share location and text. Haven't tried yet but it looks like the batteries will interchange as well. Edit: nope batteries are slightly different. You can write text with the key pad flip phone style. Press and hold the red U-turn to toggle dual watch channel.

Is the wire length the only difference between mfj1982 and mfj 1984 is there difference in toroids or turns ratio.

I know this comment is 4 years away from the original posting date, but thank you for the App demo. I got this radio for my birthday in 2023 and tried the app and thought the app was junk so I gave up on it. But I gave it another shot after watching this video. I still have some kinks to work out but I’m really happy I got my radio programmed.

We are a group of 4 and the Motorolas just don't cut it for moose hunting. We just need to communicate with each other. So can these be used as walkie Talkies, person to person communication? Do they come ready to use out of the box just set the frequency? ( Unlocked )? Thanks mate 😊👍

I have zero Ham experience. While everything you showed is easy to follow, I have no idea what any of the terms mean or what I am trying to accomplish. Could someone point me to a complete newbi guide to Ham radio operations that also uses these radios.

Why is it so big? If it’s going to be almost the same size as the radio itself I don’t see the reason for it. I want something small and lightweight for my backpack strap. Right now I just have the whole radio on there but it’s bulky.

Bluetooth programming from a mobile phone or tablet is also now available. A Tidradio Bluetooth dongle is required.

Have just bought one. It's a nice radio and has a good receiver but it has various issues. The squelch operates all the time - cannot be completely switched off. The first bank - A - does not go below Ch9. It's a nightmare - very time consuming - to program. It does not use a spreadsheet compatible text file (eg .csv) that can be easily set up. There seems to be some twisted logic in the software design rather than keeping it simple and easy to set up and operate. I had to program it with the AT5555N 3.00 app. Bonus is that it allows programming for 60ch per bank and provides for more menu options. Would love Anytone to sort out the various SW issues.

How you think this would work inside of an apartment?

12 volt charger? Wall charger? This implies that it charges batteries, this repeater has no provisions for batteries or for being charged. I believe you meant to say that it came with an external power supply for AC Mains voltages and a 12 volt automotive adapter. A charger is a completely different animal. You should also mention that frequency programming must be kept within the bandwidth limits of the narrowly tuned duplexor. It would have been beneficial to your audience to state what the acceptable bandwidth limitations are for the duplexor.

I have a problem with my bf dr1801, I do the programming process, I go to print out the device to program it in the device and after restarting, the radio station itself still has channels and frequencies that are factory ones, does anyone know what the problem is? it does everything as it should, without any error, but it simply doesn't have those frequencies that I typed in and wanted to transfer to the station.

Can the HOA still complain if the antenna is obviously temporary? I have a similar setup using the Diamond mast that extends to 4.5m. I put it up or down in about ten minutes.
